Name:Ignis Scientia
Website:recipes
This is a roleplaying journal for the character Ignis Scientia from the game Final Fantasy XV.

Ignis Scientia serves as the adviser and chamberlain to the future king of Lucis, Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum. Despite what his mature looks and personality may suggest, he is 22 years old. He stands at 6 feet, with light skin, green eyes, and short, sandy blonde hair. He is generally slim but has hints of muscle definition, especially around the neck and in the chest. He almost always wears gloves and glasses, though sometimes they glitch to where they shouldn't be. His vision is passable, though he admits that without glasses he can barely recognize someone he has known since he was six. Nonetheless, it's implied that his prescription is not that strong. He has a clean, straightforward look, with minor flair in the detail of his gloves and the questionable, vertical sweep of his bangs. His official attire as member of the Crownsguard is dominated by the color black. His personal attire tends to be several shades lighter, though still clean and proper in its look. Depending on where your character is from, they may believe his accent to be British. He has aptitude for magic but is not nearly as strong in it as the royal family he serves. He is akin to a red mage, one who can use offensive and defensive magic as well as physical attacks, but is not the strongest in any category. In battle he fights with twin daggers and a lance. On special occasions, he uses a katana.

Astute and pragmatic, Ignis has an impenetrable air that may make him seem distant or unfriendly; but he is benevolent at his core, the kind of person who takes pleasure in making other people happy, who can remember small details like a person's favorite food. His intelligence allows for a sense of humor that's perhaps too clever for its own good, and his pragmatism does not stifle an adventurous spirit, nor does it stop him from indulging in excessive acts of flair in combat. He is confident to the point of being boastful around his friends, though observing his body language will reveal that his confidence has limits. He knows he is still young and has room to improve and grow as a person.

He is known for his propensity for and excellence at cooking, though this is not where his true interests lie. Cooking is a talent based in pragmatism and heart: he cooks because it is useful, and he cooks because it makes his friends happy. He carries around a notebook full of recipe notes he jots down when inspiration strikes. And you will know when inspiration strikes. Perhaps in another dimension, where his liege is controlled by a person holding game controller, Ignis has reached meme status for his tendency to shout out when he has come up with a new recipe. (And perhaps the person writing this resents him for doing so, as she is easily startled.)

His world is a "fantasy based on reality" where ancient gods and magic crystals exist alongside smartphones and video games. Ignis may sometimes be seen checking things on his phone or, rarely, playing a video game on it--more than likely King's Knight, a favorite among the prince's retinue*. Other popular or known games in Ignis's world include the pinball game Justice Monsters V, and Assassin's Creed. There are references made, by other characters, to Star Wars, Kingdom Hearts, and Earthbound. Ignis himself does not make any pop culture references and indeed may be too busy to indulge in entertainment, though that does not preclude any interest in it.

Ignis resided in the city of Insomnia, the capital of the kingdom of Lucis. Insomnia was known for being much more technologically advanced than the surrounding areas. Its military defense, however, was fueled by the magic of the royal family, acting as a conduit for the power of the crystal. Lucis had been at war with the Niflhiem Empire for many years, with Niflhiem having the upper hand. Niflhiem had defeated much of the overall planet of Eos and had pushed Lucis to just outside the crown city walls. As a consequence, Insomnia had been protected for many years by a magic wall upheld by the reigning monarch. This had protected the city not just from the Empire but also an encroaching problem with demons that plagues the entire planet. This period of peace came to an abrupt end when Insomnia was invaded by Niflhiem, who had used the ruse of a peace treaty to sneak within the city's magic wall. The crystal was stolen and King Regis Lucis Caelum killed in the process. At the time, Ignis was on a journey to escort the prince to a marriage that was arranged as part of the peace treaty. Now he is travelling with the prince, alongside the prince's bodyguard and best friend, to find the royal arms of the line of Lucis and forge contracts with the gods in an effort to defeat Niflhiem. Maybe.

This Ignis will be following the alternate ending timeline of "Episode Ignis".

* King's Knight exists in the real world as both a game for the Nintendo Entertainment System and a mobile app. The version played by the characters in-game is a mobile app. Justice Monsters V did also exist as a mobile app but was short-lived. As far as I am aware, the characters of FFXV know it only as a pinball game.
